My fifth Scorsese watch, and they are all RAZOR THIN in my rankings. I love them all "togedder."
I loved it. It's long, like always for Scorsese, but also like always -- Marty peels back the curtains and makes the viewer eavesdroppers of a secret place. He's the greatest at that, and I love snooping, so I'm always locked in.
De Niro puts on another masterclass. I am surprised Casino didn't win the Academy Award for Costume Design, because he had to have been flaunting a hundred suits in the 180 minutes. And they niceeeee.
Pesci might be the best character actor OAT. He plays a psycho so perfectly. Lmao. There’s a case to be made that he is even better in this than Goodfellas, and he won the dayum Oscar for Goodfellas.
BEAUTIFUL colors, like After Hours. Love the cinematography in points. great editing choices and the soundtrack smaaacccckkkkksssss.
Funny enough, I thought the movie got SLIGHTLY worse when the overabundance of narration stopped. It was a lot at first, then I settled into it and really loved the choices, and then it almost completely went away for a chunk and sort of took me out. I may be alone there.
STILL... Elite movie. Scorsese is 2018 LeBron.
