This Is It
Before I fell in love with films, dancing was my passion as a kid. To be more specific, my passion was mimicking Michael Jackson’s dance moves and dancing to his songs in front of people. I used to obsessively listen to his music every second of every single day, thinking one day I’d be a professional dancer like him. The closest I’ve gotten to tasting some sort of success as a dancer was at my elementary talent show where I dressed up as Michael Jackson, danced to some of his hit songs, and afterwards signed autographs for the students and parents. According to my parents, the crowd went wild (my memory of the exact situation is fuzzy, so I’m a bit embarrassed to even be saying that). I occasionally think back to those times, wondering what would’ve happened if I had continued to dance. Even though that dream never came to fruition in the end, I’m always trying to maintain the same sense of exuberance and energy I had in my current filmmaking pursuits.
Now that I think of it, Michael Jackson was probably the reason I fell in love with the creative arts in the first place. He was, and still is, my hero and my inspiration all these years later.
