what if the government forbid an entire spesific group of people from expressing their sexuality freely??? such a crazy concept, 5 stars

First of all, this movie ended up being better than i anticipated. It is somewhat cliché with mediocre artistic vision but it has a surprisingly well-thought out plot and interesting, multi-sided characters that made me become emotionally invested. It also battles with subtle philosophical topics, which i wasn't expecting, but if you know anything about me those always receive a warm welcome in my books. Second of all, i'm amazed at how i've managed to accidently watch the two movies that star both Octavia Spencer and Chris Evans back to back.

How come when some of my favourite actors do a movie together it can only ever be hot bullshit? This movie suffers from so many things but the most vital ones are the script, the dialogue and MY GOD the INSANE lack of style. It feels like they were afraid to give this any interesting characteristics even though the theme DESPERATELY calls for it. While you watch it, it just feels like this three hour long paper thin, super boring popcorn movie that fails at everything it tries to be because it commits to none of it!! How are you going to make a film about lame, busted, asshole businessmen succumbing to their greed at every chance who we're supposed to point and laugh at and then simultainiously have it take itself so seriously that it ends up edgy and ridiculous!!

I wish i had more to say but i'm still in a state of a bit of post-awe cluelessness. All i can muster up currently is that this movie is criminally underrated and that it has an absolutely amazing main character. Also i have to admit i felt really bad the entire time because he's going through so much pain but unfortunately i found morally ambiguous hard-willed bloody dirty half-dead Chris Evans really sexy. I feel like i might have to do soul search after this one.
