Did it as a double feature after Altman’s Short Cuts. He took what Altman did, stole from it (PTA acknowledges this) and in so many ways elevated it stylistically and in depth of character. It’s some of my favorite Cruise, PSH and Robards ever. And Aimee Mann’s music impresses every time as the beating heart of the movie.
