Weapons
Weapons is a sharp, beautifully shot film that actually works better as a crime thriller than a true horror (tho it does have great moments), it’s funny, and it’s jumpy. I’m a sucker for a multi-perspective narrative, and I loved the way they chose to weave it together. The violence hits hard but always feels earned. My only gripe is the abrupt ending, which in the theatre didn’t feel fully satisfying. However, the real payoff is realizing it’s an allegory for a parasitic nature of alcohol/addiction creeping into a home, which makes you want to reframe the whole thing in your head after the credits roll.
