Jaws
I had a crippling fear of sharks when I was younger. So much so that I was convinced a shark would swim up to my bed and eat me. Now that im older my rational brain knows that sharks cant swim on land, or up stairs. But watching this movie on a shitty airplane tv, still made me a little scared. Thats 100% down to how immersive Spielberg makes his films. At points its a horror movie, others an action monster movie, there are even moments that feel like im watching a kids movie like the goonies, moments where you forget this is a bloody horror movie.
Other than that, you have three main charachters, all completely different but brought together by a common goal. Their motivations however are vastly different, which makes for an amazing cast of oddballs which constantly antagonize eachother, very reminisant of John Carpenters "The Thing".
And finally, Steven Spielberg is the monster movie GOAT. I dont even think he has realised. Jaws, Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds are all the pinnacle of monster movies. This is his best genre in my opinion. Stop this shite with disclosure day, we know you like aliens steven but you gotta make this type of magic again.
Rant over.
I unkowingly watched this on 4th of July aswell, but fell asleep before i could rate it. So happy 5th!
