The Square
The Square is an excellent satire on the ugliness behind the fake sensibility of the European society. It’s a brand new, bold way of cinema. It tells us a lot about a variety of subjects, but the story is far from being deductive, it’s interactive. I’m not sure whether Östlund’s ideas of the bourgeois culture are necessarily worth 152 minutes of screening, but his stylism has all it needs to take the movie to a whole other level. The plot is utterly thought-provoking, and combined with the astonishing set design, usage of camera, and of course, the orchestral suite of Bach, it makes a personal favorite.
