You can't and won't understand this film.

From a cinematic standpoint, this film is a classical masterpiece. Tarkovskys long and beautiful takes and the conditions in which this movie was filmed, give it that merit. But in all honesty I was underwhelmed. The dialogue which makes up most of this film, rarely served any progressive purpose. The 3 main characters whine and ponder constantly, always subject to distrust. In terms of world building, we never truly learn about the zone and its anomalies. Both the viewer and the main characters are forced on this strayed path, never truly progressing. The character’s desires aren’t full filled, and we never truly learn and uncover the ever so present mysteries. Im afraid I didn’t like or understand this movie.
