I think that what this movie does is take a story about insufferable people, drugs and promiscuous sex and tell it through the eyes of an honest, sincere, "uncool" kid, so it becomes a beautiful, honest story about cool, pleasant people. "You take notes with your eyes" That scene with Penny Lane sliding across the floor on confetti, barefoot, captures the exact feeling we all have at some point while listening to our favourite songs.
