The Terminal
I genuinely did not expect The Terminal to hit me like this. On paper it’s a light Spielberg rom-com, but somehow it turns into this really emotional story about loyalty and human connection. The fact that Viktor is stuck in an airport terminal for nine months is actually insane. I can’t survive an hour in one without losing my mind. But what really got me is why he stays. Everything he does is just to keep a promise he made to his dad, and that makes the whole thing feel way more meaningful than it has any right to be. Also, the way he slowly builds a life in the terminal is so sweet. The friendships he makes with the workers, the little routines he creates for himself, and even the romance all turn this super depressing setup into something warm and hopeful. It’s kind of wild how the movie makes an airport feel like a community. This movie is way more sincere than I expected, and it really understands how small acts of kindness and patience can matter. I went in thinking it would just be a goofy Tom Hanks but this was actually emotionally devastating in the nicest way possible.
