No Strings Attached
Certified romcom girl moment, I’m always gonna eat this genre up. I’ve lowkey been both Emma and Adam at different points. I get both of their perspectives, just not in a sexual way more like roleplay vibes, friends with affection, talking stage, situationship type stuff. But none of my endings ever turned out as good as this movie hehe. At the end of the day, love really has to come from your own willingness. A lot of people stay in denial about their feelings, me included, and I regret it so much.
I lost him, and he actually loved me really well, even if he acted like he didn’t care after everything happened. I was just too late. I know I messed up. And being in Adam’s position? That hurts too. Feeling like the relationship is only acknowledged by one side, even though they still give you comfort and safety. That quiet, one-sided kind of love? It stings. I like how they could date other people but still keep some kind of boundary. But where I’m from, that kind of dynamic is still pretty taboo.
Emma being jealous was already a dead giveaway she loved him, she was just defensive and annoyed because he broke their agreement by confessing. That whole cycle? It happens all the time in modern relationships. The ending caught me off guard fr. Adam’s dad was already wild but him ending up with Lucy?? HELLO?? And Sam??? bro was acting all “I’m the real man for Emma” just to come out as gay at the end, I thought he’d at least end up with Shira or something. Eli and Patrice were the only stable, healthy ones from the start. Wallace was HILARIOUS, literally carried the comedic energy. Adam though… such a green flag idc. Yeah he was emotionally messy sometimes, but he’s been down bad for Emma since forever.
"Why don't you go, find some other girl who's not gonna hurt you?"
Very damn relatable, but Emma, he loves you, and I know you love him too. The way he treated her, while still trying to respect her boundaries? I loved that. I get Emma’s anger too. My ending with my ex best friend was kinda like that… I ended up being the one spiraling when they didn’t wanna fix things. And honestly… male-female friendships are hard to keep long-term, especially when it’s that intense. Casual? Maybe. But something that deep? Rare.
