Se7en
Cinema
Such a solid movie! The cinema experience was definitely the best I’ve ever had with a reclining seat, mini table and too much leg room I’ll definitely be going back. Plus can’t complain about £8 ticket :)
30th anniversary of Se7en which I haven’t watched in a while so I had forgotten 75% of the film making it much more enjoyable. Brad Pitt & Morgan Freeman both gave 10/10 performances with great character growth. Personal favourite was showing that Pitt’s character, David Mills, is an imperfect person leading to his sin. Forgetting the name of the man he murdered and struggles with his emotions were great reasons for Doe’s actions. Every piece of the film flowing perfectly and fitting together made it an enjoyable puzzle as I believe Fincher gave the viewer the right amount of answers in each scene.
The ending is difficult to not talk about since it’s referenced probably every day but seeing it in cinema definitely made it much better. The difference in scenes contradicting each other from the city to countryside & the isolation that Doe placed them in set the ending up superbly. Both Pitt’s & Freeman’s acting in the scene boosted the intensity which is definitely the main factor in its popularity. The conversation between Doe & Mills during the car ride mapped both their opposing views which not only wrapped the film together but gave Doe the advantage leading into his final move, I cannot describe how good this scene was without watching it yourself.
Unfortunately, I didn’t want to praise Kevin Spacey but separating the art from the artist; his performance was incredible. Their opening scene walking into the precinct was terrifying, the car ride & the ending were created by his masterpiece performance. His character was the highlight to an already incredible film which like I said, hurts to say.
Fincher reminds me after every one of his films why he’s one of my favourite directors. Cinematography was superb which doesn’t come to a surprise, he made the city feel so real and convey emotions just using the colour of the scene. Not mentioning the sound in the film would be a crime as the noises of the city & silence during the ending scene, Fincher knows exactly how to create the mood for a scene perfectly. Amazing director.
Overall, the film was perfect even with some minor issues which would honestly take me a while to choose. Definitely going to that cinema again even tho Uber prices were silly
