Nosferatu
I’ve always loved a good macabre aesthetic!
I could go on for hours writing and talking about this movie but I’ll simple say this:
Eggers does it again!! His films never cease to amaze me! they all are the same but different and his source material is always one of folklore which makes me a fan of his even before watching the film.
The acting of everyone was so great! Lily really put her all into this role, I haven’t seen a going like hers in a while.
Nosferatu having a mustache was a really good touch on keying who Dracula is based on. (Vlad the impaler) the accent work, the character design, costuming all fantastic. There was this weird hyper-sexual energy which could be mistaken for “sexiness.”
The cinematography was beautiful, the camera work, the homage to both the book and the Nosferatu original was easy to spot but wasn’t too on the nose. Also the way this movie is in color but with all the muted colors and the moon light wash gives this black and white feel which I loved.
The story of sexual oppression and the difference between lust and love was a deep theme in the books and I’m glad it is portrayed in this film with 7ft tall Hungarian decaying vampire as the conduit.
Also, the scene when she says “you could never please me like he could,” and then Holt slams Depp on the bed and shows her he can 🫨😳 my face turned BEAT RED!
Overall, one of the films to come out this year that I’ll definitely watch again in theaters.
