Serial Experiments Lain

What is Serial Experiments Lain even about? To me, I think the simplest way to explain it would be to say it’s a prediction of what the internet will become in the future. Not only will people become more integrated into the Wired, but at the same time, the effects of the Wired will become more and more apparent in the real world. In that way, Lain was extremely accurate in describing what the world would become. It feels as though everyday, the youth is becoming more and more online, while that “online-ness” is harbored not on message boards and blogs, but on multi-million dollar social media platforms. This aspect of Lain is what I enjoyed the most about the show. I loved the way the show described what future technology might look like. In terms of plot, I did get a little bit bored during the last couple of episodes, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this series.
