RIPLEY

This is basically the same story, but told completely differently. So many fascinating choices, the fact that the whole thing was shot in Italy in B&W with razor sharp lensing is such a total zag in itself. Andrew Scott is king at the quiet broken boy and this is a great re text of that. This character is like polar opposite of his in All of Us Strangers, yet it’s still very much taking from the same well. Dakota Fanning is SO GOOD in this. I can’t remember the last role I’ve seen her in with this much to do. It’s great to see. Look forward to rewatching the original tonight, I think this show has set me up for an awesome time with the OG.
