The Beatles: Get Back
we need to bring back public executions for people who think the beatles are overrated
i grew up with beatles posters on my bedroom wall and i slept on a paul mccartney pillow (😭) through my entire pre-teen/early teenage years. my favourite t-shirt when i was 11/12 had the let it be album cover on it. and then idk what happened but i threw the pillow away and i took the posters down and i decided i was too good for the beatles because i was STUPID!!!!! they were the first band i was ever really Obsessed with in a fanatical way, apart from like. the wiggles and big time rush.
i could listen to them play ‘don’t let me down’ over and over again for the rest of eternity. there’s a scene in this where george is helping ringo write octopus’s garden and it’s the most endearing thing i’ve ever seen in my life. paul with a beard wearing a turtleneck is life- altering. john lennon was there too i guess!
i got a bass guitar for my birthday and i can literally only play paul mccartney basslines. this made me relieve all of the emotions i experienced as a kid listening to beatles records with my grandma. i apologise i am taking this as an opportunity to ramble on about my love for the beatles because i repressed it for a good 9 years. this isn’t even a review i’m just writing whatever comes to mind i will be so surprised if anyone even reads this.
i honestly wish this was even longer. it was edited fantastically and the actual content of the footage is so surreal to see, like i really just can’t believe how much of this was filmed and watching them rehearse the songs is amazing. i will end this by saying that i used to over george harrison when i was 11 and this definitely activated a sleeper agent in my brain because i cried for a good 20 minutes for absolutely no reason just because he was on screen. i will mourn the loss of george harrison for the rest of my life.
