Sentimental Value
this film was the closest to home i’ve ever watched. the house monologue made me cry, and it wasn’t even half of the movie yet. that just proves how good this film is. nora’s for all the avoidant eldest daughters who grew up too early. her and agnes’ convo about why she turned out to be better, and her reply, “because i had you growing up,” undid me completely. when nora read the script, she wondered how her dad could know, even without being there.
and that’s the essence of parenthood. no matter how far you drift, they still feel you too. this was just so devastatingly beautiful
