great pallet cleanser post michael abomination

very enjoyable as someone who grew up on his music (thriller mv is basically my childhood), however it didn’t feel like a biopic so much as a ‘puff piece’ (so to speak) about his artistry and the magnitude of the michael jackson brand. essentially a 2 hour long music video. and the music is great. the actor was INCREDIBLE, definitely the best part of this film. however i do think it’s a testiment to the current landscape that everyone is ignoring the child abuse allegations in support of him and this film, which were also omitted, and he was sort of portrayed as this mary sue type character. infallible and somehow able to overcome every struggle with little resistance. tbf i wasn’t really expecting an in depth think piece, and so this sort of bland, formulaic music biopic was to be expected

minus 1 star for being nothing like the book
