So before I say anything else about the movie I just want to include a short moment of silence and appreciation for the use of Blue by Waxahatchee like 3 minutes in Genuinely (lowkey embarrassingly) the best depiction of college I have ever seen. No one knows or cares about anyone!!!!! And you feel fucking crazy because you think people should care about each other and form connections and communities!!! Read a quote the other day about Gen Z’s horribly toxic obsession with not being cringe—“cynicism is misread as intellegence”. Whyyyyy do we pretend we do not care and are not excited about things?? We are making ourselves fucking MISERABLE over the idea that we must be cool, unemotional, unexcited, and not cringe. Be fucking sincere and genuine and authentic and excited and CRINGEY. Now. Did I have to say “oh god” out loud in my room to myself when he liked all of her Instagram posts out of brutal second hand embarrassment? Yeah fs. Alex also had a TON of growing up to do and was massively frustrating at times. But at the end of the day to be cringe is to be free amen. This was so raw, genuine, emotional, vulnerable, and actually frankly so sick and twisted. Have never felt so seen college sucks gen z sucks
