God I just really wanted them to stay a happy family and in a way they still are, they may not have perfect relationships but that’s exactly the point, despite their actual relationship with each other they are family almost by definition, I think this is best shown within the interrogation scene and the line “you have to give birth to be a mother” the familial relations explored here are so beautifully acted by everyone, the cinematography does amazing things with frame structure and the score is beautifully calm while perfectly complimenting the movie, I can definitely see this going up to 5 star on a rewatch because I currently feel as if this movie will be much better when I sit on it and properly evaluate what happened.

As a story, I absolutely adore Carrie and this adaptation is great but at times does border on male gaze territory to a slight extent and felt like a fine 2 hour 20 minute movie until I realised this movie was somehow only a little over 90 minutes. Other than that, I adore this movie and can definitely see myself revisiting it soon

WE are one armed duck fuckers. Usually I’d say Lynch could shit into a microphone and I’d listen and adore it anyway as hyperbole but he did and I absolutely do, Dumbland gives off the vibes of a memory of watching an adult swim show at 2am half asleep after you fell asleep watching Cartoon Network and I absolutely adore it.

I don’t know why I’m so shocked this sequel felt moderately disconnected with what made the original great. The focus on the relationship between sisters and the lack of a violent third act really took away from what this movie could’ve been, the violence was less frequent but still great but the themes felt much less developed or interesting as they did the first time round. Overall, still glad I saw it in the cinema but definitely wouldn’t actively recommend, the total eclipse of the heart needledrop was fucking heat though, absolutely goated.
