***"You don't want to mess with Mother Nature. I will bow down to her. She's scary, that's for sure."*** Rest in peace to all the poor souls who lost their lives in this storm. The survivors were incredibly brave, and I’m so glad they were able to share their stories with the world. Each of them had such a different reason for being there and such a unique perspective, and I genuinely felt for every single one of them. Their experiences were heartbreaking and eye-opening.

***“I'm not a homosexual!“*** Yeah… I don’t really know about this one. I loved the scenery, and some of the cinematography was genuinely great. That car chase scene? Fire. And that whole walk with Lockjaw (or whatever his name was) was really well done too, visually, it had some strong moments. I get that it’s a political story, but it just felt all over the place. I couldn’t fully follow what was going on, and it felt like it was missing something to really tie it all together. I can definitely praise how it looked, but overall? It just didn’t hit for me. Not bad, but not great either, just kind of… there.

***“Joe is een verlosser zonder belofte; hij heeft geen vooruitgang gebracht, alleen beweging.” *** For the first time in my life, I actually couldn’t stand a female lead in a movie. Holy shit. I don’t know if it was the acting or just how stiff everything felt, but those lines were not it. It completely took me out of the story. I get it, it’s Dutch, it’s always going to sound a bit off sometimes, but there’s no way anyone sat through that ten-minute sex scene just smiling like everything was fine. I love a good, intimate romantic moment, but this just wasn’t it at all. Maybe it was the pairing, maybe the execution… I don’t know, but it didn’t work. Now, Joe Speedboot? Holy shit, what a man. I genuinely left the cinema smiling just because of him showing up at the end. He’s effortlessly cool, and I loved his whole presence throughout the film. Also, major respect to the directors for working with a lead who can’t speak, that’s incredibly impressive, and it was executed really well. His acting carried a lot, and overall, this is a very well-made movie. If they had just removed… a couple things, maybe that little hoe.., this could’ve been so much better.

***"The things you own end up owning you"*** I could try to hate on this all I want, but honestly it’s just genuinely impressive. Especially for its time and the way it’s made. Sure, it gets confusing sometimes, but I actually think that’s part of why it pulls you in even harder. You’re trying to piece everything together while the movie keeps moving forward. The ending is the real star of the movie though. It’s iconic, incredibly well done, and just straight-up good. The use of sound in that final part is a 10/10. The only thing that didn’t always work for me was the pacing. Some scenes dragged a little and I found myself losing interest for a moment, but the movie always managed to pull me right back in pretty quickly.
