Nosferatu

An immaculate remake and refreshing adaptation. I can’t stress enough how visually stunning Nosferatu is: It’s emphasis on ambient horror is SO smart for a remake of a silent film and the melodrama really feels tightly knit to German expressionism. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed every second of this feature. With the recent trend of rehashing every popular IP, I tend to be cynical going into my first watch but this film is a rare example of where a fresh take was justified. One problem I did have with this film is the lead. Whilst I think all the acting in this film is consistently great, I couldn’t shake the feeling that Lily Rose Depp was overshadowed by her costars. Despite the fact that I hold the opinion this was the weakest aspect of the film, I was never taken from the immersion of the story. I can’t wait to own this film physically!
