DEMOLITION (2015)
This movie covers so many aspects of life and it really touches me. Davis’s father in law told him that “He needed to take everything apart and really look at it.” And he took that literally.
This movie reminded me of the scene from Fight Club where the narrator said
“I wanted to destroy something beautiful”
And when he said
“I want to put a bullet between the eyes of every panda that won’t screw to save its existence.”
Chris was such an intriguing character. I feel that this movie is really about finding yourself, and Chris was a perfect example of that. Considering his father wasn’t around and his mother was a pothead, he most likely didn’t have a true parental figure, but when Davis stepped in it really helped Chris find who he was as a person.
Karen intrigued me too. I feel that both of these characters were restless and ready to do something with their lives. Once Karen started getting those letters, that was her time to start moving, is she took advantage of it. The best part was that the relationship was perfectly platonic.
The ending was beautiful. The one thing Davis cared about was being the fastest. He proved himself. He was the fastest. I think that Chris getting beat up is part of the harsh reality that being yourself WILL come with backlash or consequences, but taking in that backlash and taking in the consequences is so much better than pretending to be someone you’re not. The final scene was beautiful, of the buildings crashing down. Freedom is Destruction
Or should I say Freedom is…
