Okay this is my first time writing an actual review, wish me luck.
In this coming of age movie, I think that the point of it all was that Chris was trying to fit in. He had his own flaws, and so did everyone else.
First I’m going to talk about Fahad. Fahad was a shitty fucking friend. If someone isn’t brave enough to tell others that they are friends with someone then they shouldn’t be friends with that person. Fahad was using Chris to go on 2 mans.
Next I’m gonna talk about Madi. Chris you were fumbling in the beginning not gonna lie, but you clutched up. She obviously was into him and he sold like crazy. That moment where he froze up kinda started the downfall. Also at the end, that was kinda shitty of her to use him punching her friend against him. That kid was being a dick.
The skater boys were more inclusive than Fahad was, but they immediately dropped Chris after seeing him yell at his mother. They also let an 8th grade smoke and drink. I also kinda found it funny that after Chris’s mom got in the car after talking to the parents of the kid he punched, it was a VERY similar scene to the one from Mid90s where Stevie yelled at his mom after she embarrassed him in front of his skater friends.
Overall, a very great and relatable film. The story never had a happy ending, which made it more realistic; not every movie has a fairy tail ending. The important thing was that Chris tried to right his wrongs. Things won’t go as planned, that’s life.
