Kick-Ass
I'm certainly not as entertained by capeshit as I was a decade ago, but I can't help but love this movie. It's so much fun and has a ton of charm, heart, and humor. Cage and Moretz have such great chemistry as the father-daughter duo (and I actually love what Cage is doing with his off-kilter speech, both as Damon and Big Daddy), and the rest of the characters are terrifically cast.
The script is polished, giving just the right amount of time to B-plotlines to fill out the world - each character, even bit parts with only a couple lines, all have great payoffs. Hit Girl is my favorite part of this movie, but I really love (or love to hate) everyone in it.
The action sequences still hold up great - the punches land so hard (go watch Birds of Prey to see what not-hard punches look like), great needle drops, and lots of Mark Strong looking surprised.
I love this, 5 stars!
