You're Next
You never want to do anything interesting anymore...
Few modern horror films are as toe-tappingly satisfying as You're Next, I love this movie! This was my third time watching it, and I can't help but smile during the final act, it's so playful in its violence and black humor.
Having watched many more horror films since my last re-watch, I now can appreciate the casting even more - Ti West as the filmmaker boyfriend and Barbara Crampton as the matriarch are fun insider casting choices. Of course Sharni Vinson is the standout here, and really drives home the third act opposite some of the smarmiest manbabies I've ever seen.
The kills are intense, the pacing is great, the foreshadowing and reveals are great (if a bit over-signaled), and movie hits 100% once the driving synth beat kicks in.
For a $1 million budget, this is just stellar. It's an immensely good time, and I think I could keep coming back to this again and again.
