**I need to watch more films** I scale higher on Letterboxd so an 8.5/10 becomes a 4.5 stars because** **my life is sunshine and rainbows *3 2 1 Let’s Jam*

**A James Gunn film if you removed all the sauce and made him direct a shitty star wars spinoff.** It’s fine enough if you want to shut off your brain and watch an action film with poor writing and visually boring and dark shots. **SPOILERS FURTHER ON** This film takes the parts that I like from a comic I think is just okay and just throws them to the floor and stomps on them. The visuals are just horrible there is nothing and I mean nothing visually stunning in this film which is the complete opposite from the comics. I hate to be that guy but it’s like how can you mess this up so badly. The plot is just straight bad at times. Supergirl is constantly shown to be weak and forcibly depowerd because you the writers don’t know how to write strong and powerful characters, even though we had a film last year where the character was still strong as ever but the plot still moved. I mean like how is she being poisoned from drinking something when she can’t get drunk. Thats the whole incident that starts this adventure and you can’t even keep that consistent. She struggles to find Krem like are we serious she has x ray vision and super hearing and she can’t find him in a very small area. They make stupid plot holes to keep the plot moving instead of doing something creative. Now I love Milly as Kara, she is fantastic and definitely my standout favourite character as she does really well with quick resolutions that don’t favour her character. Everybody else is just fantastic especially Lobo but I have a big problem with him. It’s why? Why is he here. Like he’s not used to fight supergirl which would make it so they don’t have to make some bullshit excuse to weaken her and we get an actual fight. Instead he just rides around doing cool shit and being funny. Like it’s fine but it’s just such a missed opportunity he just doesn’t fit in at all. My second favourite part about the comic is its ending. Supergirl going to kill Krem to free Ruthye from feeling badly and she stops her and they let him live. Instead they don’t have Kara try and help Ruthye not feel this pain they have her say I won’t stop you then a hug and then she fucking kills him. Are we serious? That’s the most stupid decision ever. What character arc was had here? Like holy shit how can ruin a plot about revenge it’s the easiest idea and theme to execute. They still push Jor El evil. It’s so stupid. They should have just retconned it in this film it would make a lot of sense but no they won’t. It’s not really important but it’s worth mentioning. Overall this film is fine if you just want to have something on while you do other things. It has none of the sauce from Superman 2025 and feel like they tried to make a cheap knockoff. Why did they have to this to my girl the slander is gonna be so bad.

***Superman is grooming us!*** This film is honestly one of the most visually pleasing superhero movies. I mean just some of these shots are amazing and camera work is just top notch. The acting across the entire cast is still so good, Lex again the biggest standout being just so good and David is just made to be superman. The soundtrack is also just such so banging. When that theme just rises and rises oh my god chills. The plot works because it’s simple it doesn’t have to be something extraordinarily crazy it’s just a simple introduction to this world and its protector. There are narrative directions that do hinder this from being a 5 star. That being sacrificing clark’s krypton side to the extreme just to push the humanity story which isn’t a bad story but feels like a cheap way to solve this problem creatively. Also superman clone is kinda lazy if you don’t give him personality like a bizzaro type. Watched this in preparation for supergirl which i have decent hopes for but I really hope that film can fix some of the problems faced within this film especially with Kara living her childhood on krypton. If they push evil krypton I will be upset.

***Sexy.*** What an unorthodox film, it’s simply just unbelievable that this film was made on nothing. It’s just such a beautiful looking film it’s just brilliant with design in both visual and sound. I love looking at some of the behind the scenes stuff and seeing Wong Kar-wai talk about his romantic epic. *What does love mean?* It was the question that stood out to me the most within this film. Each character expresses and obsesses over love in different ways. Having this film be practically two different movies just enhances this idea of the different types of love and how people around you fall in love. I genuinely don’t know exactly how to rank this film, definitely seems like it would be an amazing rewatch as well.

***Objection!*** I think the best part of a story will always be its **characters**. This film is the perfect definition of great characters. Every single character is portrayed fantastically from the very first seen. Not giving the characters a name was a genius move. I love that we get parts of the film dedicated to each character showing their change from guilty to not guilty. I just love how so much of this film is a **long** **take** especially as the film starts off but begins to get more sweaty and more cuts. I just adore the continuous take one of my favourite things a film can do. The music is also not that over baring/not even there in scenes, it’s only there when it becomes necessary. What an amazing film. Going to rewatch immediately. *Phoenix Wright would of had this case solved in seconds.*
