Scream

I don’t think Craven gets enough credit for his resistance to the misogyny of horror films in the 20th century. He clearly lays out the sexual rules that slashers follow and seems interested in intentionally defying them. When violence against women occurs in this franchise, at least under Craven, it simultaneously acknowledges and ignores the sexual status of the victim.
