It’s strange to watch this now when I’m much older than the actors in the movie who were the “old” people in my life when I was a child. Certainly works better as a lens of a particular depiction of gen x youth life, than it is a good movie.

4.3 stars. Blind watch - was expecting salt burn mixed with dark pop stardom and luckily got something much more interesting! Semi tonal spoiler… film was my favorite depiction of supernatural / spiritual / occult elements I’ve ever seen on screen. Very humanistic

Ahead of its time. Is also timeless because it used the advanced technology of the time to have an incredibly specific visual culture that doesn’t feel dated even 20 years later. Bold in every manner. Tonally bizarre - especially between the kid/monkey and the rest of the film
