Persona
Whatever she’s going through, I’m going through the same shit
“I’ll never be like you. I change all the time. You can do what you want. You won’t get to me.”
A film that not only explores but deeply examines the dynamics of communication. It raises questions like: how do you even begin to recognize your own voice in the present, in a society that is intermittent, hyperconnected and filled with noise, where others seem to have the power to define and direct who you are? It feels like an impossible pursuit, but once it begins, it does not stop.
Silence starts to feel utopian, short lived, when you are constantly exposed to reflections. It is like living in a funhouse where noise, life and outside influence are inevitable. Can you stop yourself from becoming part of that external noise, from turning into someone else’s words, from becoming a version of yourself that is not truly yours but shaped by fears and influences built by others? Is it possible to resist? And if it is, is it worth it when the noise is also coming from within?
What are the limits of the discomfort that comes from not feeling like your own person or not feeling free? Are those limits valid enough to defend your right to disconnect from the world? Maybe that discomfort is fair, something that stays with you no matter who you end up becoming.
