Finding Emily
I actually cannot stop thinking about this film.
First of all, Spike Fearn might genuinely be one of the fittest people alive. Like I was trying so hard to pay attention to the plot every time he was on screen but he is just ridiculously gorgeous. I haven’t fangirled over an actor this much in actual years.
But aside from me losing my mind over that, I loved all the tiny details in this so much. Like when they first met and he was wearing the green top, and then later when he asks what he should wear and Emily says the green top. Little things like that just made everything feel so connected and intentional.
And the whole Emily actually being Amélie thing just worked for me completely. Maybe that’s the point though — while he was out there trying to find Emily, she was literally right in front of him the whole time.
The ending was immaculate. Genuinely one of those endings where it finishes and you just sit there smiling at your screen for a minute because it landed exactly how it needed to.
Also the soundtrack?? Stunning. The cinematography?? Gorgeous. The vibes?? Immaculate. Everything felt so soft and dreamy and cosy and romantic.
Out of everything I’ve watched that’s come out this year, this is without a doubt my favourite so far and honestly it might have just taken the top spot in my romcom ranking as well.
I absolutely adored this film and I haven’t come away from something this excited and giddy in such a long time
