Loving Vincent
Loving Vincent genuinely felt like watching a painting come to life. Every single scene looked like it belonged in a gallery.Honestly, I don't think there was a frame that wasn't a painting.
The visuals were absolutely stunning, but what surprised me most was how interesting and emotional the storyline was. The mystery surrounding Vincent's life and death kept me invested the whole way through, and by the end I felt much more deeply connected to him as a person rather than just the artist behind famous paintings.
As someone who has been inspired by Van Gogh's work in my own art, I loved spotting references to his paintings throughout the film. It felt strangely exciting recognising scenes and being able to tell exactly which painting they were inspired by. Seeing works I've studied and even taken inspiration from myself woven into the story made the experience feel much more personal.
Beautiful, moving, and probably the closest I'll ever get to walking around inside a Van Gogh painting.
I don't think there was a single scene that wasn't worthy of being hung in a gallery.
Every few minutes I found myself pausing just to appreciate how stunning everything looked.
