Taxi Driver
The way the movie shows how his experiences as a taxi driver affect his mental stability is really interesting. it pushes the audience to feel that his illegal acts are perfectly justified, tricking the viewer into becoming an example of someone that the film is critiquing in its final scene, someone who is ready to glorify horrific actions only if they happen to certain people.
I read somewhere that De Niro and Scorsese said that the ending was real, but imo it's more impactful to imagine the ending scene as in his imagination, solidifying another idea in the film of how a person could see their actions as 'for the greater good' despite how not good their actions might actually be.
