Mysterious Skin
Pretty heavy movie to be watching on a Friday morning but here we are. This film tackles trauma and how people may deal with the same traumas in different ways and makes you think what is the “best” way to cope with such things or if it’s all just subjective. Basically what I’m trying to say is it’s really thought provoking. This is my first Gregg Araki film but it’s safe to say I’ll be back to watch more (when I’m mentally able to at least) his way of telling the narrative is like nothing I’ve seen before and works brilliantly with the subject matter, you know what’s going on but there is still more being unraveled in different ways that you and the characters are learning at the same time. Really great and effective way of story telling I’ve never experienced before
