Although Cate Blanchett tends to play the same type of characters in her movies, she is by far the best in Tar. The exploration of cancel culture on artists and their art was layered and nuanced. The rock-solid pseudo-biopic was only elevated by its beautiful camerawork. Todd Field steers the film masterfully through its highs and lows, not unlike an orchestral performance.
