A Special Day
*"Io non credo che l'inquilino del sesto piano sia antifascista; semmai, il fascismo è anti-inquilino del sesto piano."
**-
*"I don’t think the tenant on the sixth floor is anti-fascist; if anything, fascism is anti-sixth-floor tenant."
When I watch a film and am astonished by its ability to convey the emotions of its characters, I immediately know it will become one of my new favorites.
It is difficult to create a film of such depth, especially when dealing with sensitive topics like feminism and homosexuality in 1970s Italy.
I'm completely captivated by the beauty and talent of actress Sophia Loren and actor Marcello Mastroianni, they moved me deeply.
The dialogue is perfect—I was so struck by it that I needed to hear it over and over again.
I never thought I could love an Italian movie this much... thank you, Ettore Scola. Most of all, thank you for giving a voice to the women and men who suffered in those years.
(Special thanks to my grandmother who recommended me this beautiful movie♡)
*"Finisce sempre che ci adeguiamo noi alla mentalità degli altri, anche quando è sbagliata."
-
"In the end, we always end up adapting to other people’s mentality, even when it’s wrong."*
"E questa è.. la cosa più grave: che cerchi di sembrare diverso da quello che sei. *Ti obbligano a vergognarti di te stesso, a nasconderti."
**-
*"And this is… the most serious thing: that you try to seem different from who you really are. They force you to be ashamed of yourself, to hide."
