Baby Reindeer
not saying this series's perfect, but it got something to it that touched my soul so directly i can't stop thinking about it.
"Martha saw me the way i wanted to be seen"
i think sexual abuse and harassment must be some kind of humiliating and destructive of the self thing, but not so many talks about the thoughts that comes with it, thinking that maybe you deserved it in the end, or that you're the reason it happened,
the feeling of being wanted by someone, getting complimented all the time, finally being seen by someone. he felt it, and not only the abuse he went through, but even the stalking somehow made him feel loved. what took him so long to report the stalking? omg shut up you stupid police officer.
it's not something you can control, and not something to be ashamed about. especially talking about men getting it.. the scene where Donny spoke up to his parents and then his father's confession.. made my whole body shiver and tears started flowing down my cheeks, uncontrollably.
"that's what abuse is [..] I knew she was mad, I knew she was dangerous, but she flattered me. And that was enough."
the nauseous and anxious feeling that the atmosphere and their performance was able to convey was incredibly insane.
Terri's character felt like a breath of air for the audience, and probably to Donny too.
a real story that everyone should know about for sure.
