♡恋と革命♡
this jdrama is the best thing that could've happened to me in this time of my life.
i'm ugly crying while still in disbelief: this show really exist?! and then i thought when exactly have i had the same question in my mind—that was when i was watching Monster (2023) for the first time. can you imagine how i felt seeing Hinata Hiiragi act in this masterpiece, as well as a queer character again?
i can barely breathe now, my head hurts and my eyes are burning.
“If you're different from everyone else, doesn't it feel awkward?”
actually, i cried a lot during the whole thing. i felt so comforted, my heart was warm like never before!
“Love... is like finding someone or something you care about and rebelling against people, or society in general, who try to push you around...and then, becoming free. Living the life you want.”
“We live for love and revolution!”
this is one of the best thing i've ever laid my eyes on—emotionally intelligent while being quirky as hell, this drama portrays gayness and queerness flawlessly, showing the struggles and challenges faced by living your true self, but reminds you how okay it is to just be you. in your own special way.
it really screams something like--there's absolutely nothing wrong with you. it's yourself!!! that's what matters!!!
“Things that are between guitar and not-guitar.
Things that are between family and not-family.
Things that are between parent and not-parent.
There are so many things without names.
But even those things...
can be just as important as the ones that have names, right?”
i think of it as revolutionary as it also talks about the difficulties of being a woman in this society and workplace specifically, about complex "parents" that still somehow deserve to be loved (Ichigaya Jin reminded me so much of my mother's dad), about how hard it is to be a teenager while discovering what you want to do with your life, about how gay parents ARE better than no parents (or bad parents)...
also about the eye-opening concept of looking from different perspectives.. how with time you can open your mind and understand things you thought you already knew everything about (i especially saw that in the landlady Inokashira's seagull drawing with 4 legs, it takes her a long time to learn how to properly draw it—i think that reflects how people have bad views on gay couples without actually understanding the dynamic.)
there would be so much more to unfold. that's how important and meaningful this 10-episodes-drama is.
“Hotaru, no matter what kind of adult you become, I just hope that, by then, the world will be a place where you don't have to feel sad anymore.”
i wish i could live with them and find my Sakuta for which i would "fall madly in love".
“If you don't truly let yourself want what you want, you'll never have it.
So, I've decided to let myself want it.”
i'm eternally grateful to the people that worked on this project: queer shows like this with a found family are seriously a godsend, i couldn't possibly ask for more.

“Everything in this world might be connected to me in some way, I thought.
And if I keep thinking that way, maybe I can become a kinder person.”
