Parasyte -the maxim-
*"Goodbye Shinichi.
**This is farewell.
**I'm glad I didn't take over your brain when we first met.
*Thanks to that, we made many good memories as friends."
this anime is one of the best i've seen, but not in terms of artwork, that i happened to not really enjoy in the first few episodes, but in terms of depth of the story. the topics that were discussed between parasites, humans and even human killers, were interesting and fascinating. i love when a director sets the morals aside and gives us some good reflections about life and the meaning of our existence, every perspective was worth listening to and understanding (i loved the speech of the one who was later discovered human at the city hall)
"Probably as a human being I just committed a very serious crime. But can I really take away a creature's right to live just because it's harmful?"
Migi was surely the best character, who also had a clear development while still being himself til the end, but one of my favourites was Ryoko Tamura: a complex individual and at first very hard to understand. the best episodes to me were the ones that involved her in some way, especially when she gave Shinichi her child and he finally recognised his trauma and filled the hole in his heart by meeting again his mother/a mother's figure.
the romance in this anime didn't play much of a meaningful role for anyone that has ever watched it, but to me it still made sense. Murano was a normal person, in her annoying manners and being stupid sometimes, i think her and her friends helped Shinichi to remain human, because he was just like them before Migi appeared anyways.
i think Shinichi's father could've had more screentime because he completely disappeared after the first half, but i'm thinking this now since while i was watching it i was too caught up in what was happening.
i will miss everything about this...
