Twenty Five Twenty One
나의 첫사랑 이름은 ?
나희되
i’d start off by saying that i really liked this drama, it felt realistic (especially because it portrayed well the catastrophes of the years it was based in), but the main complaint, that most people also had, has to be about the ending. you can’t start off a drama of 16 episodes with people wondering who Minchae’s father is and end it with that question still unanswered.
also, ryder37 and injeolmi should’ve had it all: enemies while pen pals to lovers.. this is too perfect, they had to straight-wash it.
but i still loved Yijin a lot, i found myself in him. from time to time, when i saw him, i started seeing Nora from Past Lives—the quote from that movie resonated a lot with him: “The truth i learned here is, you had to leave because you’re you. And the reason i liked you is because you are you. And who you are is a person who leaves, but for him, you’re a person who stays.”
actually, all of the characters were very lovable—Seungwan best girl, the stupid goofy beautiful Jiwoong, and the seemingly cold but sweet Yurim.
but most of all, Heedo (not older Heedo, but that’s a different discussion i’m not having)—she is the best of them all.
i loved that i learned once again that, most of the time, things are better off as memories, and love doesn’t have just one shape. it can be a rainbow—the type of love that cares about the other person and wants to see them grow and achieve their dreams. that could be enough.. unless.
it’s sad that i won’t be this young forever; everything changes, people move on, people die, people get lost.
i was so tempted to give this kdrama 4 stars, but i added 0.5 thanks to the amazing osts—nothing like the goosebumps i got when Go or Your Existence started playing. the rest of the songs are masterpieces as well.
i will miss them a lot, god i'm getting emotional.
“I can’t tell since when, but you sound more genuine in your apologies than when you say you love me.”
