Obsession
This did something to me on a molecular level..
I have to say films like these, especially made by someone my age, give me so much hope for the future of cinema & for my generation as the new pioneers. It's a pinpoint dissection of what it feels like to live in this modern landscape (or hellscape depending how you look at it) with themes of loneliness, lack of autonomy, friendship, apathy, & the drastically different levels of social skills in a post-covid world.
The synth driven sound track oscillating with tension was fantastic, & yes, everything you've heard about Inde Navarette is true.
The needle drop of "Forever" at the end sealed the deal for me that I was watching something truly special from Curry Barker. Soundtrack juxtaposition is the single most magical thing a movie can do for me & I sat there having a full body reaction watching those credits roll.
A defining film of a generation no doubt.
