Autumn Sonata
what a painful movie. it’s not light at all, and definitely not easy to watch, but it’s incredibly honest and deeply human. it really hit me hard, and the confrontation scene between the two of them is one of the most powerful scenes i’ve ever seen in my life. both of their performances completely blew me away, and the direction is so delicate and precise. i really don’t have the words to describe how deeply, how intimately, this film touched me. the film captures years of buried guilt and resentment so well that it’s almost impossible not to feel it in your own skin. watching it felt like getting punched straight in the face while someone shoved two fingers into your eyes, but it’s still one of the best films I’ve ever seen in my life.
