Late Spring
it just felt terrible watching the father’s lack of emotion towards his daughter, even though it is the plot. acting fine as if nothing happen for the sake of noriko’s happiness is such a fatherly thing to do.
im not fond of the close up pov camera style (it feels like the character is talking directly to you) however i dont mind that much, after all it’s the directing style. i didn’t expect that ozu’s directing style would be slow. it is the type of film where every moment needs to be savored in order to enjoy it.
this film rlly portray the conservative ways back in the day, which ofc marriage nowadays is more of a choice instead of an obligation. it also broadened my perspective of how parents feel when their child get married; ofc i knew it feels sad for them, i jst never considered it that much before watching this.
ALSO, OLD JAPANESE HITS DIFFERENT!! now i wish to visit japan more than ever💔
