Borderland

really spectacular opening scene, the rest was absolutely a slog to get through. the brujo concept was gnarly and interesting. but the dialogue and plot points reeked of 2000’s cliches and they want you to care so much about these characters that have fodder spelled on their foreheads. normally that can be fun, but you can tell this was only a payday for everyone involved. it clearly wants to be wolf creek or hostel or any other grainy saw son, and it achieves that in a way that is so mediocre it’s almost impressive.
