Patriot

This short film can be watch on Kanopy (free from many libraries) Patriot (2015) This short film deals with racism in rural England and how it influences family dynamic. The idea is solid, but I do not think that the film has the impact or makes the statement as strongly as it could . Racism is learned, no one is born racist. For a moment in the film, the girl sees beyond the ideals instilled in her by her family, but the epiphany does not last. Perhaps that is a commentary on the almost unbreakable grip that learned beliefs have on a child. This film was recommended by a Letterboxd to my Short Film Friendwatch project by a friend who no longer follows me.
