This Tiny World
This short film can be watched here: This Tiny World (1972)
This short film shows many of the tin mechanical toys that were wildly popular in the 1930s to 1950s. It is interesting to see the toys doing their things and imagine children actually playing with them and using their imaginations to create stories and scenes. (Unlike todays proliferance of screens). For me, however, much like the toys in this feature, the content was hollow and lacking any real depth or exploration of the topic beyond just a very surface overview.
This film won an Academy Award for Best Documentary, Short Subject in 1973.
This film is part of my attempt to watch all of the Short Film Documentary Academy Award Winners.
