₊˚⊹ ᢉ𐭩 *wouldst thou like the taste of butter? a pretty dress? wouldst thou like to live deliciously? * finally got around to watching this as one of the first movies on my watchlist that’s been sitting there years! a lot less scary than i thought it’d be, the on-screen violence was extremely low and psychologically it wasn’t disturbing, contradicting my expectations. what it lacked in shock value it completely made up for in religious themes, a subgenre of horror i love, alongside anything to do with the occult. how quickly a family will turn against a daughter of suspected witchcraft. also the embodiment of satan through the farm goat was a unique twist with the children communicating through it. the portrayal of the young witch alongside the group of women was really alluring and if i was thomasin i honestly more than likely would have joined that cult too.
