Cowboy Bebop
I had an interesting experience watching this show, as towards the beginning of the series I was also watching another anime, and the process of watching that anime simultaneously made me appreciate this show so much more. The anime in question being Sword Art Online. While they are enormously different shows, it was the disparity in character righting that stood out the most. In sword art online you have a lot of characters who just do things. Most characters don't have many distinct personality trait unless they are some kind of caricature characterised by that trait. Whereas here, the personalities and intricacies of each character is so distinct. There is very little reliance on ensemble show cliché plot points. All the characters work and are interesting without having to put them in run-of-the-mill sitcom circumstances.
It's clear to me throughout that the creators cared a lot about what they were making. They had fun with it, they had style flowing out of there ears, and did it with so much confidence. They told stories effectively and still left enough room for the audience to piece together bits of information.
Cowboy Bebop is just a blast. While i will say that because of the very episodic structure to the show, it did take me a little while to get through the show, that's not to say I didn't have such a fun time. I'm going to miss seeing these characters just do things and I've no doubt I'm going to come back to it in the future.
Also, Mark my words. This is my declaration, it's in writing now. I'm getting 'See you, Space Cowboy' tattooed somewhere on my body. It's just straight up happening.
