Poor Things
I like everything about this, the shots, the cgi(this is how modern cgis should be atleast), the performance, the direction, and of course the existential tone that will ofcourse linger in your mind for sometime.
Every character has its own distintive characterstic and ideology(the best part of the movie). Bella's trait was pure curiosity which drives her to explore the most basic ways of our living reasons and ways(pleasure, morality, freedom...). She conveyed from an innocent creature to a being remarkable awareness both intellecually and emotionally which led her to dullness and a saddned life.
Defoe's character or God was a nihilist, emotionless scientist who achieved great researches and honor and awe and other unortodox controversial but revoloutionary science works as a surgon. But when he became emotionally attached with his being of research which is an abnormal human( a brain of a baby inside a mother is ofc an abnormal being),it led him to his downfall as a scientist and his identity. His cold rationality begins to crack, becomes as vulnerable as all of us.
Then there is the husband of bella's mother, who represents the cruelty and moral decay of those who attach themselves to power and control. He can certainly represent our modern day capitalist leaders.
We can go on and on, there are many intricate characters, the socialist prostitute, her realist friend, her liberalist dumb lover, her cruel humanist mother, her nihilist God, and her idealist rational fiance.
