Educating Rita

This is my first time watching a film made by Lewis Gilbert and i think it’s amazing! I absolutely loved it and I expected it to end like so many films…you know, with Rita and Frank falling in love or getting together somehow. I am just  so glad it didnt end up like that. Their relationship was so much more interesting because it never became romantic…well it was romantic for Frank but it was platonic for Rita as a woman who was still discovering herself and I’m happy she chose herself at the end. I liked how It stayed focused on Rita’s education and the way two people can completely change each other’s perspectives without there needing to be any love story.  I found Rita inspiring as she became more confident and independent. It’s kind of little women but with a better ending I guess because Rita challenged the life that had been expected of her and I did really want to have a backstory of her parents marriage because we can clearly see there was some problems with it. I would definitely recommend watching this.
